Firstly we need to establish the same ratio of grid size from Maya to UDK.
Open up your version of Autodesk Maya and click on the Display menu and go to Grid Options.
Change the Length/Width value to 512. The Grid lines every to 512. The Subdivisions should be set at 32.
And that’s it! Just remember to keep in mind that an Unreal character is 96 units high (Unreal Units). Also remember to keep all your brushes on the grid by using multiples of 2 like we have done in previous tutorials (i.e. 8, 16, 32, 128, 256, 512, 1024)
Also make sure the snap to grid box is checked at all times. There should be no reason to have any of these options tuned off (apart from maybe auto-save on the far right).
